I'm Miss Dumile a English teaching assistant at Shekou Elementary School.

I created a simple English taught curriculum on diplomacy and international affairs for our Grade 2 students. This course was taught with the support of our senior English Teachers at She Kuo Elementary School. I’m happy I had the opportunity to share with our students about Taiwan and other bilateral countries such as Kingdom of Eswatini. I'm grateful.

Lesson on the National anthem and the National flag (Taiwan and Eswatini). The lesson's objective was to teach students both the English translations of national anthems. The term "National Anthem" was introduced to the class. In English, the teacher questioned the students as to what a "national anthem" is? The teacher introduced a video clip with the Taiwan National Anthem for those who were unable to respond.

Students discovered that the Taiwan national song contains the words "One heart," "One soul," and "One aim." The national anthem of the Kingdom of Eswatini, was also taught to the students. They learned parts of the anthem in English, "we thank God," "queen and king," and "beautiful country". Students learned that a National Anthem is a Happy Song, A prayer and a Blessing.

Learning the colors and the meaning of the National Flag.Do you know what the meaning behind the colors of the Flag Are? Grade 2 students showed their enthusiasm while studying foreign policy and diplomacy. Students were encouraged to learn about the flags of Taiwan and the Kingdom of Eswatini as part of their curriculum. The teacher slowly and gently introduced the students to a picture of a flag from Eswatini. Students had to learn and name the colors of the flag. Eswatini's flag colors are blue, yellow, red, black, and white. The teacher slowly and gently shared and communicated to the students what the colors meant: blue stands for peace, yellow is for wealth, and red is to win. The students read along perfectly.

Students then gladly studied about the flag of Taiwan. They had to first identify the flag and all of its colors. White, red, and blue. In more simple terms, blue is for freedom, red is for helping (supporting) each other, and white is for being fair to one another.

Students colored both the Taiwan and Kingdom of Eswatini flags side by side on an A4-size coloring page. In addition, students learned and traced the phrase "Taiwan Flag is Our Flag" and the "Eswatini Flag." Students' art work of the national flags was on display on the school’s bulletin board. Students did a great job with their pronunciations. They’re true diplomats.

Grade 2 children, regardless of their English proficiency, are open to participation and are excited to communicate. It is important for a teacher to communicate his or her lesson plan with other collaborating teachers. Thank you for your attention.
